Town of chevy chase
This family was seeking a front garden that changed with the seasons yet had enough structure to look ordered and attractive even in the coldest months.
In summer, hydrangas, snakeroot and variegated red twig hydrangea brighten the garden border. The front lawn, beyond the bigleaf goldenray, holds tanks that collect roofwater during storms.
An aggregate concrete path, lined in Obedient Plant and Japanese Forest Grass, leads from the driveway to the backyard and is large enough for the children to carry their large and varied sports gear.
For this family that enjoys outdoor grilling, a custom island was designed to support cabinetry including pull out trash and recycling bins and a hybrid gas/charcoal grill for an efficient outdoor kitchen.
